How to read the chart
- T = treble, D = double, a plain number = single. 25 = outer bull, Bull = bullseye (50 points, counts as a double).
- Play the combinations in order, with 3 darts. The last dart is always a double or the Bull.
- The highest possible checkout is 170: T20 T20 Bull.
Bogey numbers
Seven scores of 170 or less cannot be finished in three darts: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159. You need to score first to leave a finish. Above 170, no checkout is possible in one visit.

Checkouts worth knowing by heart
- D20 (40), D16 (32) and D8 (16): players’ favourite doubles, because a miss into the single still leaves a double (single 16 off D16 → D8).
- 100 = T20 D20, 80 = T20 D10, 60 = 20 D20: the most common finishes after a good visit.
- On an odd number under 40, hit a single first to leave an even double: 37 = 5 D16.
With fewer than three darts
With only two darts left, the chart route is not always playable: on 110, T20 18 D16 needs three darts. DartCV then looks for a shorter route (T20 Bull) and shows nothing if there is none.
Frequently asked questions
What is the highest checkout in darts?
170, with T20 T20 Bull. It is known as the “Big Fish”.
Which scores cannot be checked out?
Under 170: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159, known as the bogey numbers.
Does the Bull count as a double?
Yes. The bullseye is worth 50 and counts as double 25, so you can finish on it in double out.
Do I need to learn the chart by heart?
Not to play with DartCV: on 170 or less, the app shows the checkout to aim for based on the darts you have left.
